Some of the Benefits of Gardening Communities
It all seems to come down to one thing- health. Gardening Communities, or neighborhoods that value home-grown food, can bring benefit in a number of ways.
Our Health
Growing food in ways that are more closely aligned with the ways of nature, has been shown to be better for our health.
Our Environment
Regenerative agricultural practices, whether they are used on the farm, or in a garden in our backyard, could have a major impact on the health of our environment, and in directly reducing the affects of climate change.
Our Economy
During the past two centuries our economic systems have produced greater and greater disparity of resources. And, we have become increasingly dependent on large corporations for our well-being. It hasn’t always bee this way. We could learn much from the way that we grew food in the past. And, our economy would be more diverse and sustaining of our citizens.
Our Society
Food is a very social thing. When we gather as a family or a community, it often is around a table for a shared meal. By allowing convenience to take precedence in our lives, we lose something. And we can feel that loss in our relationships with our family and friends, as well as in our communities.
Our Spirit
By enriching the soil and our garden, we enrich our spirit.
Of course we should support the farmers who are practicing regenerative agriculture. And, at the same time, we can rekindle our passion for home grown food, and all of it’s benefits.
